Progress is still moving at a snail's pace at my house. My husband called the contractor and told him that if he didn't show up in the next day or two, my husband will start drywalling and taping with my son. That got the contractor in gear and he finally showed up after bailing out twice this week. Still he only came out to assess how much dry wall was needed and then that was it, he left again with no work being done.
I am itching to start painting but can't till the walls are done. Then it will be on to ripping out the floors. As I mentioned before, the old linoleum glue contains asbestos so I am not looking forward to removing it.
I was reading up on mesothelioma, a rare cancer that affects mainly the lining of the lungs. Most cases are believed to be caused by exposure to asbestos.
The Maune Raichle Law Firm specializes only in mesothelioma cases and has some good mesothelioma information. Men are usually affected more than women and the prognosis is bleak. Average survival is 8-14 months.
It's going to be a little scary handling the removal but I have handled a lot of carcinogenic chemicals before so in that respect, this is nothing new but I am definitely going to proceed with caution. I don't want to end up another statistic.
