Family Reunion Location

After going back and forth with my brother, who is also planning next year's family reunion with me, we decided to not do the cruise to Mexico. It was too expensive plus there was the choice of only one Carnival cruise and no one seemed to like that cruise line.

My brother took a vacation down to San Diego in August and we thought about doing the reunion there. However, his verdict was that it was too crowded, traffic was terrible and the cost of hotels was astronomical.

We then thought about it doing it in San Francisco and then in Seattle but I really wanted to do it on the Oregon Coast and in the end my brother relented.

The advantages to having it on the coast are that it's not very far away, cost is not too high. There is the aquarium at Newport which is ranked nationally, the Tillamook cheese factory, Tillamook airplane museum, shopping in Cannon Beach, a few casinos, kite flying, clamming, crabbing, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, and being on the beach. Really lots of outdoor type activities. It's a beautiful area and I would be happy as a clam just spending all my time near the ocean.

The disadvantages are that it could rain that weekend, although it will be at the end of June so I am hoping the weather will not be bad.

Still I wonder if that is going to satisfy everyone's needs. It's difficult to pick a place that everyone will be happy with. Since my husband and I will be selecting lodging and the restaurants, it will be on our heads if things don't work out.

We will be heading over there in a couple of weeks to find a place to have it. I guess if people don't like the location, they don't have to come!
