My dad just got out of the hospital yesterday. His second visit in 3 months. Had a lung biopsy done and it didn't sound very pleasant at all. It was supposed to be an overnight deal where he could go home the next day after the procedure. Four days later, they let him out. The doctors finally told him what he had- pulmonary fibrosis. There are different kinds and apparently he seems to have the kind that is aggressive. It's a progressive disease with no cure. It's very discouraging news to be sure.
I have been doing some research on it and it seems there is not much in the treatment department yet it is on the increase. More and more people are being diagnosed with it and probably many others have it and have been misdiagnosed.
I joined a caretaker's support group on the disease and will be looking into getting all the info I can. There has got to be some hope out there.

What the New Year Will Bring
It is already the 3rd day of the New Year and I have to say that I am a little discouraged. My son is still having lots of GI problems. He did not go back to school today. I am working like crazy to change his diet to a gluten-free one but it is going to take some time. He is also very picky and does not like a lot of the GF products we have tried so far. I think they tasted good but then I am not the one that has to eat them all the time.
My dad is still not recovered from his lung problems and is going in for a biopsy this week. Then it will be another week before the doctor will let him know what the results are. He has been sick since November and really hasn't been given any type of treatment what-so-ever except oxygen. He's been coughing and is still short of breath. It has been very frustrating.
I am not sure what the New Year will bring. All I can say is that I would like to remain optimistic but it is difficult at times. It's a new year but I feel like nothing has changed. It's the same old year as far as I am concerned.
